The Israeli Airforce is constantly telling civilians how it’s always looking for “a few good men.” But what about the women? For the first time, camera crews follow six women who’ve made it into one of the IDF’s most prestigious, sought-after training programs – The Flight Academy.
A previously all-male training scheme which demands the most arduous, intense physical and mental resilience – a program that is Israeli pride personified.
During six gruelling months, we follow these female Flight Academy cadets up close and personal; their identities and faces fully exposed – all the way to the decisive flight stage, after which several of them will immediately quit the academy.
Touching the Sky shadows these young female flight cadets throughout a tense, tumultuous, emotional, and dramatic six months as they make their way through the many emotional minefields, both in and outside the academy, at weekends with family and friends.
We follow each prospective female pilot throughout each and every stage of their training – as equals and others amongst their male peers – in a place where they are constantly assessed, both as future pilots and as women.
