Every day, on the basement floor of the medical examiner’s office, a fresh quest for truth and justice begins. There, in the post-mortem rooms, forensic pathologists set out to solve the mystery – what was the cause of death of the individual lying still before them? What had snuffed out their life? The answers they come up with will more often than not, lead to both a public and legal uproar.

Following them closely and intimately, Coroners Report is a series at the heart of which are those doctors who had chosen to pursue forensic medicine as a career. It explores what life in the shadow of death is like for them; the sense of calling that drives them; the state prosecutors breathing down their necks, and also the defence mechanisms they must have in place in order to carry on living, loving and laughing – both at work and at home.
